On August 17, 1908, at the Gymnasium Theater of Paris, the French Emile Cohl presented the first filmed animated cartoon “Fantasmagorie” where drawings were individually filmed one after the other. The name “Fantasmagorie” etymology means “the art to make ghost talking in public” (the exhibition or display of optical effects and illusions) but refers as well to the technique used at the end of the 18^th century to project and animate on a screen pictures painted on glass or engraved.

The Fantasmagorix technology refers to a pipeline of different computer programs used for the creation of animated films with the unique concept of “real time”. Our technology mixes existing programs such as Maya or MotionBuilder and others programs developed  by Herold & Family.

The Fantasmagorix technology combines the use of algorithm calculus and the engineering of the video games. This “hardware” technology reduces dramatically the time of processing per image. Directors and productions can collaborate. RenderBox allows checking images simultaneously while they are being created; therefore modifications can be made easily and quickly for a better quality. A scene rendered in several hours under the classical technique will be rendered in about 30 seconds with the Fantasmagorix technology.

The Fantasmagorix technology is not just essential to the production of CGI films but is also very well suited for Stereoscopic 3D animation films. Indeed, the huge time saving will make the 3D films available at reasonable costs.
